Surge Protector Modules

for High Risk Locations

Part Number:
WT/WEG-HSP-001ATC

This is a module designed as a primary protection device optimized for energy handling capacity. It is typically used to protect outdoor electronic equipment such as traffic lights and signaling equipment from lightning storms. Because the intended installation location could be considered 'high risk', this device incorporates a stepped voltage characteristic. The lower voltage threshold will clamp the regularly occuring low energy transients. This will preserve teh higher threshold device, ensuring its optimum condition for high energy. The device incorporates a circuit for monitoring the lower threshold device. When the lower threshold device reaches its limit of allowable deterioration it will automatically be removed from the circuit and the green LED will be extinguished. This will indicate that the device has reached the end of its useful life. Statisticaly the higher threshold device will continue to operate satisfactorily for a period of time, pending replacement, even though the lower threshold device begins to exhibit higher capacitance and is disconnected from the circuit.
