D-sub and Ribbon Cable interface modules

Applications

D-subminiature plug-in connectors in accordance with DIN 41652 are being used to an increasing degree in communications engineering, text and data processing as well as in measuring and control engineering. The typical trapezoidal metal protective shells (steel, galvanized and yellow-passivated) used for this series of plug-in connectors guarantee that pins are aligned correctly when mated.

An effective electrical ground and electromagnetic sheidl is achieved when contact is made between frame, connector housing, and circuit screen.

The pin and sleeve contacts are stamped and formed, nickel and hard-gold plated in the plug-in area, and have a loading capacity of up to 7A.

In orde to ensure a safe grounding circuit, a screw terminal is provided for connection to the metal shell.

The mechanical strain relief of the D-sub connection takes the form of a standard screw connection with 4-40 UNC thread. A plug-in connection with diagonal fixing arrangement can also be used with 37 and 50 poles (eg SINUMERIK control systems).

Applications

The ribbon cable connectors in accordance with DIN 41651 and MIL-C-83503 have become more popular, and they are often used as the interface between electronic equipment and the conventional electrical equipment.

The screw terminals are integrated with the male ribbon cable connector on a common printed circuit board, thus forming an interface module. Short or long locking leves provide strain relief, which prevents the socket connector from being separated from the plug connector as a result of vibration or jarring. Center polarization prevents incorrect plug connection.

It is compatible with the current plug systems on the market. The contacts are typically gold-plated and tinned in the contact area, and have a loading capacity of up to 1 ampere.

Two short and long locking levers are attached to the interface module to prevent the socket connector from being displaced, both with and without strain relief.
